This was a French-language film that came to me prior to picture lock. The director, based in Paris, had been recommended to work with me by another supervising sound editor.
Sound design and mixing were integral to the film, particularly as many scenes were set in beautiful homes and coastal locations where atmosphere and realism were essential. I worked closely with the director throughout the process to ensure the sound supported her vision and never unintentionally shifted the narrative tone.
The dialogue editor also collaborated with me on the mix, allowing us to carefully balance all elements together before the final dubbing stage. I brought in a foley team to handle additional foley recording and tracklay, which allowed me to focus on recording and refining location sounds in preparation for the mix.
The director attended many spotting sessions and revisions, making the workflow and emotional impact align throughout.
