This project was at picture lock with global film festival submission deadlines approaching. I was brought on to handle dialogue editing, sound design, and the final dubbing mix, recommended by the re-recording mixer.
The project was fully remote, with the director and re-recording mixer based in Canada. The film was a sci-fi piece, shot with a “Red-Dwarf” analogue/low-budget aesthetic in mind—but the production aimed to avoid feeling cheap. As such, the sound and music were critical in creating style, immersion, and a cohesive atmosphere without being overly polished.
I collaborated closely with the director and re-recording mixer, sharing daily sound design examples and refinements. At the project’s midpoint, the director asked me to review composers and advise on who would best fit the film’s soundscape and thematic needs.
Once the composer from Miami began sending scene references, I worked closely with him to integrate the music seamlessly with the sound design. Together, we built the immersive world the director envisioned, resulting in a dynamic and compelling audio experience.
